About the Author
Anthony Tassinello has spent the last two decades cooking at the iconic Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley, California. His passion for wood-fired cookery, baking, and pastry and cocktail culture keeps him busy all four seasons. He has foraged for wild mushrooms from Oregon to Italy, and was the foraging guide for author/food activist Michael Pollan in his acclaimed bestseller, The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Anthony’s work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, SF Magazine, The Huffington Post, NPR, and numerous cookbooks. He lives in Northern California with his girlfriend Frances, her son Bruno, and their orange cat, Rooney.

A new twist on an old favorite

Being born and raised in Chicago we LOVE Pizza!! As a family we are always on the hunt for new and exciting recipes to try. The Essential Wood Fired Pizza cookbook as so many! I liked that it is very easy to comprehand and follow any of the recipes. It also talks about different woods and how create different flavors in your pizza as well as how to maintain the heat while cooking multiple pizzas. We are trying out every single recipe in the book for our Friday night pizza nights. I have made extra standard dough to freeze for those nights when we just want a classic pizza as well as the easy pizza sauce. I have to say so far those 2 recipes are my favorite, I'm not a real "fancy" ingredient person, classic is perfect for me, but my Husband and Daughter have a more adventurous palate.
I did receive this product at a discount or free for my honest and unbiased review and that is just what I am giving. If there was anything I did not like about the product I it is noted above because I refuse to spend my money on something that doesn't work and I would not want you to either. I do try to opt in on only items I would normally purchase so that I know I have an actual use for them. That is why you will see many items that I have reviewed were given a 4 Star rating. If there is nothing substantially wrong with the item and it does what the seller states then I believe it deserves a 4 star rating. If there is an issue than I will deduct stars. But if a product blows me away – meaning its better than I expected it will get 5 stars from me!

Good interesting pizza recipes!

If you have even ever thought of having a wood-fired oven built then, your going to want to read this book. It includes all the different types of ovens, plus how they work, a list of of what your going to need, safety tips, fuel, and firing up your oven. It covers all that pretty well, even includes cleaning/maintenance, and sourcing wood. The fun part about this book is all the great recipes it includes. Now I don't have a wood-fired oven, and after reading all that one entails, I'm not sure I want one now! Regardless it does include a lot of great recipes, that I still think are very usable even if you don't have a wood-fired oven. Of course I would do a trial run on one or two of the recipes to be sure it will cook right and also to see what kind of results it gives you from just using your regular indoor oven. The book also includes pizza dough recipes as well as tips. Some of the recipes have ingredients I would never have thought of using for example butternut squash, on pizza!! I do like butternut squash but never occurred to me to use it as a pizza topping. Several I want to try now., but I don't have my bread machine anymore that is helpful with doing the dough. Guess I will be looking for a new one, because there are quite a few recipes I really want to try now!

Perfect for the Pizza Lover...even if you don't have a wood fire oven!

Pizza is a classic comfort food. You can't go wrong with Pizza and almost everyone likes some type of pizza. I am a HUGE fan of wood fire pizza. There is just something fantastic about the crust that you can't replicate with a traditional oven. However, not all of us are lucky enough to have a wood fire pizza oven readily available for us. If you do, this book is for you. This book is also for you if you want amazing recipes for different takes on the traditional pizza. I don't have a wood oven but I love the recipes in this book (and one can dream of some day having my own). The recipes in the book range from Breakfast Pizza to calzones and beyond. I'm in love with the different and creative ways to make just about anything into a pizza. Perfect for the home cook in your life! (I received this book at a discounted rate to provide an honest review. All opinions are my own).
