Hard and Fast by Sean Wolfe

It's strange because I think this was supposed to be plain erotica, but I actually found it rather romantic and sometime even sweet. Of course my favourite stories are those of the episcopal priest who finds love in the surf boy (The Collar) and the other one about the middle thirty guy who, still mourning the sudden death of his partner of 7 years, is able to find love again in his high school first crush (They Call Me Mr. Tripp)

As expected most of the stories are highly sexy (and sexual) in content, sometime even kinky (like the story of the high school twins/twinks who love each other and like to make fun of their more dumb fellow students (Pool Party) or that of the "southern bell" boy who is able to jostle both an Union than a Confederate lover (The Plantation), but in between the sex, indeed the author manages to always make his guys fall in love, Hard and Fast indeed.

The leading story is that of good boy Axom (The Good Boy), who is a classic example of good kid in the house, and kinky boy out of it: in his experience as high school and college boy, Axom manages to seduce, or being seduced, by his youth counsellor priest, the college private guard, a multi-millionaire and one of his teacher, most of these relationship with bad consequences for the partners, but leaving Axom mostly unscathed.

In any case all the stories are like little novel, each of them carefully crafted in details and development. Really good anthology and I wouldn't mind to read a long novel by this author, maybe the development of The Collar?

Quick short sexy stories !!

This collection of hard and fast sex scenarios is pretty good. I didn't like The Pool. That story was incest (no thank you) between two twin brothers, creeped me out, so I quit reading that one. The others varied in their couples. I liked The Collar, well written and interesting. Quick short stories for before bed, or on lunch time. ENJOY !!!

About the Author
Cherie Priest debuted to great acclaim with "Four and Twenty Blackbirds", "Wings to the Kingdom", and "Not Flesh Nor Feathers", a trilogy of Southern Gothic ghost stories featuring heroine Eden Moore. Excellently creepy, as I enjoy from Cherie Priest!

This is a very, very creepy tale, of the "possessed building" trope.

It is not altogether clear how cutting down the jacaranda tree- important as it was to the island- caused this evil entity to take up residence- and it's a very specific entity, with precise requirements that to me did not jibe with the history of the tree.

That being said, it's a minor quibble in the face of an excellently creepy novel, that kept me page-turning long after i ought to have been asleep!

The characters are very well-drawn, and feel real. The plot builds and is is very creepy indeed. Not everything gets explained. Although this is in her "Clockwork Century" setting, most of it has little overlap with the rest of the books therein, so this is fine to read even if you've read nothing else in that setting.

That being said, it is closer in length to a novella than a novel, so the price for the physical version is rather high. The production values were excellent, though, and this is one of the few books I've read this year that did not have copy-editing errors- high praise!

Cherie Priest is an awesome author, and this book stands up to the qualities I expect from her works.
This story takes place many years after the main works in the Clockwork Century, with only minor reference to the earlier adventures.
If you have read the Clockwork Century and liked it, then definitely read Jacaranda. If you have read her other works, but not the Clockwork Century, then read Jacaranda anyway--there are no spoilers if you read Jacaranda before the Clockwork Century novels. In feel it is more like her horror than her steam punk.

This is set in the world of Priest's Clockwork Century but despite some cool gadgetry and Ranger Korman as a main character, this does not fit into the Clockwork Century world. It is a spooky story written in Priest's beautifully lyrical style. I recommend it, but be warned that it is not quite what one might expect.

A Good starter’s book but not the best one!

### Advantages:
# Good Value for Money: The combined package, i.e. the book + free online GRE Course, is a very good tool to have for a beginner.
# Its greatest merit lies in its Chapters Reviews. The chapters are covered in great detail and are bolstered with a large number of solved examples. The text is quite extensive and exhaustive.
# The answers to the practice questions, in the book, are very detailed and useful. If trivial errors are the bane of your preparation then this book is quite a nifty tool for you.
# Stress on Vocabulary: There is a significant amount of stress on vocabulary building. This is the greatest edge that it has over its competition.

### Disadvantages:
# Difficulty level of questions, specifically in the Quantitative section, could have been better. The practice test set questions are not at par with the Questions by ETS or Manhattan.
# Topics Probability and Statistics are poorly covered! This is a major challenge with the book. These topics have a significant presence in the GRE test however they have been neglected in the book.
# Lack of tests. There are two tests (paper) in the book and a diagnostic test online. However most of other books offer more number of tests and also of better quality.
# Testing analysis tools leave much to be desired for! When compared to the test given by Princeton or Manhattan or Kaplan the test analysis tool falls short.
# Very average AWA section: The coverage of AWA section is not at par with any other top books available in the Market!

Overall it is a balanced book and decent value for money. However, it is not sufficient by itself, if the user wants to score more than 315 points especially not for AWA section. If you are looking to score higher on the GRE you must consider other books. It is highly advisable that you look into ETS GRE as they have actual GRE Questions.

~~~What are some of the other study options that I have?~~~
Some students, in the past, have bypassed Barron’s completely and started more specialized books such as the ETS or Manhattan GRE. For example, Manhattan GRE Set of eight strategy guides come with 8 books that target specific math and verbal areas. You would have a much better shot at scoring 315+ using this (not guaranteed), however they require 2-3 months to complete. ETS has a similar collection of 3 books (general + quantitative + verbal). They also have four tests on CD rom enclosed along with the package.

~~~What is a good study plan using Barron’s GRE?~~~
Since it is a good book for beginner’s, I would recommend that you could start with Barron and finish it within a month, then evaluate which are your areas of strength/ weakness. Based on your analysis you can invest in a book by Manhattan/ ETS to bolster your weaknesses. If probability and Statistics is not your strong suite you will need to refer to another book.

~~~Will this get me to 315+?~~~
This book alone, probably, won’t get you to 315+ score; but for people out of college it would refresh the math and verbal fundamentals. You should seriously consider investing in ETS as they provide you with questions that have appeared in GRE before.

A pretty good one-book GRE guide

I'm a long-time GRE tutor. This book is a good choice if you only use one book in addition to the ETS books, but don't expect it to solve all your GRE problems (as it claims it will).

The authors of this book clearly have taken their task seriously: the book feels professional and it's fairly comprehensive. I'll separate this review into three components: content, technique, and practice material.

Content: all question types and nearly all math concepts are covered and explained. The list of vocab words is good, but "high-frequency" means "high-frequency" on PAST GRE tests. Don't expect these words to show up on the GRE you take - they may or may not.

Technique: I like most of the techniques offered for math and verbal, but for verbal, students should be aware that they'll need to refine and experiment with things like how to read passages and proving their answers. I thought the essay technique was okay, but it needs more depth: most of my students really need a primer on how to construct each part of their essays.

Practice material: the GRE-style practice questions and tests are good, but not great. Real GRE questions are more tougher; they're more complex and wordy.

Overall, this book is a good guide to your study and analysis of real ETS GRE questions. Just don't believe the back of the book which claims that this is the "only book you will need to get the score you want". That's marketing, not reality. To really score high, you will most likely need more: more vocab, more math practice, refined verbal technique, more computer practice tests, and better essay advice.

Good prep book for math

Good prep book for math, but comparatively wimpy on verbal. The level of difficulty of the questions is similar to the Official GRE books. I would suggest getting the official books and using this book to augment your prep. I bought it for a class. Definitely recommend taking a class for anyone wishing to take the GRE, especially since our instructor had some better strategies than the ones offered in this book.Also this book is virtually identical to the 20th Edition, but with changed font/typeface formatting.

a nice ending

the series is finally over. i've been reading it since 2003. there are just as many japanese in jokes as the previous ones that dont all translate well, but the back section tries to cover most of them.
i'm sad to see the series go but am glad they ended it now. it gets a little evangelion weird in the middle where its hard to keep track of whats going on but it concludes well enough.

since i've been reading this since the beginning, at first each character seemed a bit one sided but after 27 volumes, they're each given a chance to grow and show different sides. the humor has always been weird, punny, and irreverant but thats what made the series great.

Finally my collection is complete!

The final volume in a eons long saga! The Saga of Excel!
Utterly mind blowing conclusion to this series. Of course if you have read even one volume you should buy this! Though be warned the entire last volume includes just about every character from the previous 26! So a LOT of jokes and important plot points can be missed if you weren't an avid reader of Excel Saga.

If you're like me, you love the mood whiplash in Excel saga, and there's certainly no shortage of that. But beyond the tone and characterization being consistent, there's a very interesting finale that I think is the best way to cap off the story. Everything is wrapped up in a way that only the world and characters of Excel Saga can handle. It was worth the wait.
