Visakha Dasi (Jean Papert Griesser) received an Associate of Applied Science degree with honors from Rochester Institute of Technology and shortly afterward published her first book, Photomacrography: Art and Techniques. She wrote numerous articles for Back to Godhead magazine and two books, Our Most Dear Friend: A Bhagavad-gita for Children and Bhagavad-gita, A Photographic Essay, a fully illustrated summary study of the Bhagavad-gita. Simplicity, depth, inspiration

Visakha's Harmony and the Bhagavad-gita is truly inspiring to me to read and re-read. The simplicity and depth of her masterful writing transports me to a magical place on earth, Sharanagati, and to a mystical place within, in search of my own self. The author's honesty and integrity in sharing her insights on the timeless teachings of the Gita set an example for every writer--how to write and uplift others as a service, without pretension and desire for fame. I look forward to her next book.

A very inspiring book!

I just finished reading this book and it was difficult for me to put it down. The author creates a visual image of her search for meaning in living a more simple life with her family on a rural farm in Canada among a community of like-minded people. The book gives us guidelines on how to be a spiritual being living in this material world and ways to develop the consciousness that will help foster an environment for loving relationships with family and friends, something that our spirit soul longs for. This is a very transcendental book, but also very practical because the author incorporates her own candid real life experiences and realizations from her spiritual practice and relationships that I found very helpful for my life. So, if you have ever longed to live a more simply authentic life with spirit at the center, this is a book well worth reaing!!

Very Unique and Thought-Provoking Book

At first glance, the words "harmony" and "move to the wilderness" seem incongruent together. What's more, this author is trying to understand and live by ancient vedic texts while trying to keep bears out of her carrot patch and coping with the difficulties of living off the grid. The result is a collection of light anecdotes, deep introspection, eastern mysticism, great quotes, and a little humor to sweeten the pie. While this is a philosophical book, it's really about the author's personal spiritual journey, and as such, it is an inspiring book.
