Good introduction to six sigma

Nice quick read. Jeff is an excellent teacher and does a really nice job on this example of showing what six sigma is and an overview of how to use it to solve problems. This book is a very good source to use if a person wants to have a better understanding of exactly what a six sigma program can do for them and some of the processes used.

Also, if there is any desire to seek a certification, there is no better instructor than Jeff Parks. He mixes lecture with real examples and laboratory experiments for each section. Our Black Belt program was a very successful corporate initiative and could not have even gotten off the ground without Jeff's hard work and understanding.

As for the Bengals....meh. I think they got a decent young TE in Gresham, but not sure that the Law Firm will ever catch many passes out of the backfield.

About the Author
Malcolm J. M. Cooper, PhD LLM is Emeritus Professor, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan. He teaches tourism management and environmental law. Formerly Vice President for Research and International Affairs, he is a specialist in tourism resource management (natural, cultural, social) and tourism development, environmental and water resource management and environmental law, and has worked and published widely in these fields. He has lectured at the Universities of New England (1974-1983), Southern Queensland (1996-2003), and Waiariki Institute of Technology (1994-1996), and has worked in the environmental planning (City Planner, 1985-1994) and tourism policy (1983-1985) areas for Federal, State and Local Governments in Australia. At other times he has been a private environmental planning consultant in Australia, and a tourism education consultant to the Governments of Sri Lanka, China and Vietnam. He is a recipient of the Australian Centennial medal and has published over 150 books and papers.

Kazem Vafadari, PhD is Associate Professor, College of Asia Pacific Studies, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan. He teaches tourism policy and planning, tourism research, and cultural heritage management. He is an expert on tourism and developing countries in Asia, and on agricultural heritage landscapes and rural development, and works with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization as an advisor and scientific committee member for the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) project. He has published several book chapters and papers on tourism management, on applications of globally important agricultural heritage systems, and on planning for sustainable tourism development.

Disappointing update

The prior addition was larger and more complete. Very little verbage with this edition, mainly charts and drawings. The drawings are full color and well done for the most part, though. It could more appropriately be thought of as an atlas of anatomy and physiology rather than a handbook, at last in the ways that I consider the term. It is worth the money because cheap but not very helpful overall.

I am finding this book very useful. It gives the overviews needed to keep all the data straight, with lots of images and details to support the understanding of the area of the body I am reviewing.
I would recommend this for anyone who loves anatomy. I would actually say I enjoy using this book.

About the Author
Trevor Kletz, OBE, D.Sc., F.Eng., a process safety consultant, has published more than a hundred papers and nine books on loss prevention and process safety, including most recently Lessons From Disaster: How Organizations Have No Memory and Accidents Recur and Computer Control and Human Error. His experience includes thirty-eight years with Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd., where he served as a production manager and safety adviser in the petrochemical division, and membership in the department of chemical engineering at Loughborough University, Leicestershire, England. He is currently senior visiting research fellow at Loughborough University and an officer of the Order of the British Empire.

Involved in safety?You should read T.A.Kletz!

I am surprised to see so few reviews for T.A.Kletz books.

If you are dealing with potentially hazardous installations or systems, and not only if you are an engineer, you should read some Kletz. Allways hinging his books around his very message, T.A.Kletz constantly gives interesting practical examples and fine advice, from his 40 years own experience. He 'dismounts' accidents, their causes, superficial and underlying down to the detail. He shows the different aspects of human/organisational responsibility in accidents and their prevention. After going through one of his books, "human error" never reads the same again. In "Learning from Accidents", he does follow that methodology for about ten famous accidents, various generic accidents and many incidents. He shows how major accidents come out of sequences of minor defficiencies and are helped by sleeping faults, poor management, poor procedures, poor incident reporting,... poor design... and poor remembrance of previous accidents/incidents.

If we don't learn from our mistakes, why bother making them?

About the Author

Victoria O’Donnell is Professor Emerita and former director of the University Honors Program and Professor of Communication at Montana State University–Bozeman. She also taught a seminar in television criticism for the School of Film and Photography at Montana State University. Previously she was the chair of the Department of Speech Communication at Oregon State University and chair of the Department of Communication and Public Address at the University of North Texas. In 1988 she taught for the American Institute of Foreign Studies at the University of London. She received her PhD from the Pennsylvania State University. She has published articles and chapters in a wide range of journals and books on topics concerning persuasion, the social effects of media, women in film and television, British politics, Nazi propaganda, collective memory, cultural studies theory, and science fiction films of the 1950s. She is also the author (with June Kable) of Persuasion: An Interactive-Dependency Approach, Propaganda and Persuasion (with Garth Jowett), Readings in Propaganda and Persuasion: New and Classic Essays (co-edited with Garth Jowett), Television Criticism, and Speech Communication. She made a film, Women, War, and Work: Shaping Space for Productivity in the Shipyards During World War II, for PBS through KUSM Public Television at Montana State University. She has also written television scripts for environmental films and has done voice-overs for several PBS films. She served on editorial boards of several journals. The recipient of numerous research grants, honors, and teaching awards, including being awarded the Honor Professorship at North Texas State University and the Montana State University Alumni Association and Bozeman Chamber of Commerce Award of Excellence, she has been a Danforth Foundation Associate and a Summer Scholar of the National Endowment for the Humanities. She has taught in Germany and has been a visiting lecturer at universities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Wales. She has also served as a private consultant to the U.S. government, a state senator, the tobacco litigation plaintiffs, and many American corporations. She is an active volunteer with Intermountain Therapy Animals, taking her Golden Retriever, Gabriel, to the elementary schools where the children read to the dog in the R.E.A.D. program. She writes children’s stories about Gabriel. She is currently writing a novel about Ireland.

Never one to disappoint!!!!!

I have read all of The Corner series and they are all magnificent!!! I truly hope it never ends; I tried to take my time reading this latest book because I didn't want it to end! Very very good read, I can't wait for the next two books to come out. I really enjoyed reading about the beginning of Laurette and Lucky's relationship and always wondered how Jean Paul came about. Anyone reading this book will not be disappointed; Alex is a wonderful writer that takes your mind on a journey!!!

I loved this installment of the Corner series.it gets better and better.now I'm not to fond of sonny and his crew but I know my boys will prevail some how some way...this book had me twisting and turning thru the whole thing.kept me captivated...and ohhhhh the ending...yessss!!! You did that Alex...can't wait for this to end and sooo want my crew to stay at the top....CHECK OUT THE CORNER SERIES YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED....YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SERIES...CLICK NOW.

Another five star read. This series is getting more interesting as the new characters are introduced. Mr. Richardson's writing has remained consistent with the new angles characters and has continued to breathe life into this electrifying and highly addicting series.
